Inaugural #POTA activation of Kalang River AU-11191

Today I am activating the Kalang River AU-11191 on the north coast of the state of New South Wales on the the east coast of Australia, roughly between Sydney and Brisbane and more precisely between Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Heads.

I am downstream or at the mouth of the river at Urunga, a small retirement and holiday village. I am by the river near the golf course and sailing and dragon boat clubhouse.

I am using my Icom IC-7300 and today for the first time I have two antennas up – a JPC-12 vertical with eight radials and an end fed long wire.

I will be on 15 and 40 metres between 0500 and 0700 UTC today, Saturday 25 April 2026. I will be on SSB and FT8.
