In recent months there’s been a plethora of apps coming to Mac, iPhone and iPad for amateur (ham) radio. I have tried a few of them and in the list below comment where I feel I can do so credibly.
If there are some apps I have missed, please share them in the comments on the social media posts or contact me directly and I will update the list. I will link this post to my Apple Amateur Radio page and the Apple Amateur Radio Subreddit.
There are many other great web based services that could be included in this list but they have no specific Mac, iOS, iPadOS or other Apple aspect and are therefore not included. Apps are presented in alphabetical order.
DX Chrono desktop – all in one map and dashboard

- Comment: What I really like is the local band conditions, done by setting the nearest monitoring station to you. The paid version has lots of extra features.
Echo: Global SDR Receiver
- iPad, iPhone (does download and work on Mac)

- Comment: This is a nice app that I find handy for accessing KiwiSDR sites. However, the app is capable of way more.
HamPulse – all in one map and dashboard

- Comment: This is a very nice app that renders well across all platforms. There’s lots of information. What I really like is that it is on the Apple TV meaning after watching something I can switch over to quickly check band conditions.
HamSat – monitoring and schedule satellite flybys

- Comment: Nice app but I have had issues with accuracy of the passes. The developer has been very responsive to bug reports.
Ham Satting – monitoring and schedule satellite flybys

- Comment: Nice enough, requires some configuration, the font scale is small to start with and adjustable in settings
Hamtrax – A POTA app that goes beyond just spotting and logging

Mac Ham Clock Launcher – all in one map and dashboard

- Comment: If Ham Clock is your thing, you will like this. It works on both Intel and Apple Silicone Macs. You download an app and then access it via your web browser.
POTAontheGO – POTA spotting and reporting app
- iPad and iPhone (does download to Mac but not tested)

PSKReporter Client – Reports on your activity via PSK
