So, some nerdy fun today. I’ve previously posted on talking to other amateur radio operators via a repeater on the International Space Station. I’ve usually do this from home with a higher power radio and base antenna.
Yesterday I took delivery of a highly directional “Yagi” antenna that connects to my low power hand held ‘walkie talkie” type radio.
The ISS came over twice today. I had no luck in the morning but I did this afternoon, speaking with another ‘ham’ in Melbourne. With this antenna, you hold it in your hand and point it in the direction of the ISS it flies over you at 28,000 kms.
The antenna came from eBay. I used my Icom ID-52A Plus and SatPathFinder on my iPhone.
And yes, I look like a Ghost Buster.
