Welcome to the first August update of Apple Amateur Radio . There have been some great new developments on the hardware, software and web based fronts in the last few weeks.
Greyline FT8 for iPad and iPhone
In the second July 2026 bulletin, I wrote of Greyline FT8 – an app for iPhone and iPad for FT8. For my Icom IC-7300, I needed a Digirig Lite and Digirig cable for IC-706 to make it work. Both arrived and boy does it work well! I’ve written up my leaning and settings in this blog post.
Ham 2k PoLo for Mac
Ham2k PoLo (standing for portable logger) is my go to on iPhone and iPad for POTA logging. The iPad app also works on M-series Macs. The developer, Sebastián Delmont (KI2D) is taking the app to desktop, including the Mac. A Beta version is online for testing.
SDR Control for Icom on Mac now has FT2
SDR Control for Icom on Mac now has FT8 Improved and it also runs FT2.
VNA Mate for Mac
VNA mate for Mac has been updated to include a new multi-band scan panel.
DeskHPSDR for Mac
From GitHub: “deskHPSDR by DL1BZ is a mature Open Source desktop application for Hamradio OpenHPSDR SDR transceivers that has been under active development for years. SDR devices based on the OpenHPSDR protocol P1 or P2 are fully supported and both protocol versions are fully supported”. Before downloading, I recommend you research whether your SDR is compatible with these protocols.
QCluster for Mac
From the developer: “QCluster is a fast, focused Mac app for connecting to a DX Cluster, filtering the noise and showing the spots that matter to you”.
Zeus SDR for Mac
From the developer: “A WebGL-native console for Hermes-Lite 2 and ANAN-class radios. Click-to-tune panadapter, Zeus-grade DSP, protected transmit — on Windows, macOS, and Linux”. Again, do some research on if your SDR is compatible with these protocols.
