I have added quite a few playlists to my Apple Music library,
On my Apple devices (as a general comment – mileage may vary), I have two types of playlists. One is the playlist I just stream. The other is a playlist I have downloaded all of the music files (and it updates automatically as the owner makes changes) so I have music when I am out of mobile phone range.
I have about 30 playlists, and about six of these are downloaded to the phone and watch. It’s great to have tracks downloaded to iPhone and Apple Watch because when you have files on device, it doesn’t use the cellular radio, thereby draining your battery.
Now I have a third type of playlists – favourites (drawn from the first two categories). Despite having iTunes and then Apple Music for probably 20 years, I never got around to favouriting playlists that I can quickly and easily access. It’s pretty simple.
On the Mac:
- Right click a playlist and select “Favourite”
- Check that the star appears next to the album name
- Click on “All Playlists”
- Choose “Only favourites”.
Then you will see just your favourites. You can do a similar thing on iOS/iPad OS:
- Library
- Playlists
- Top right – three lines (not dots)
- Choose Favourites
