CSA – POOR WEATHER NOTIFICATIONS ON APPS – CHECK YOUR SETTINGS
So, that was quite a storm last night. I was intrigued that the ordinarily reliable BOM app on my phone wasn’t sending through notifications that the poor weather was coming. It used to. It hadn’t been for a while.
I looked in the app’s phone settings and found that my location was no longer set, resulting in me not receiving notifications.
Sometimes, developers reset all settings (location, notifications, etc.) when they update apps, so I assumed that happened here. It could also occur when operating system platforms, like Apple, do a significant update, as just occurred. The Apple weather app wasn’t sending through dodgy weather notifications either.
The only notification I got was via SMS text from NRMA Insurance, as they offer hail alerts for policy holders, but you have to set up your address and turn the alerts on.
Anyway, so when you have a moment today, it might be worth your while to check your notifications settings in the apps of your favourite weather apps and that noticiations for the app are turned on in phone settings (you need both).
