Your Labor candidate for Warringah at the 2016 election is Andrew Woodward. Andrew is a local father of two living and working in Warringah. Having grown up and spent most of his life on the northern beaches, Andrew is a passionate advocate for conservation, technology, community engagement and government and business that puts people first.

Andrew is committed to real action on climate change and clean renewable energy , properly funded government services, protecting Medicare, TAFE, CSIRO and penalty rates, marriage equality, an Australian Republic, indigenous constitutional recognition and an end to the divisive Tony Abbott era of Australian politics.

In 2014, Andrew met and trained with Al Gore ­ the former Vice President of the United States of America, who inspired him to get involved in climate change. Andrew is now one of the leading experts in Australia on climate change communication and its impact on business reputation, brands and consumers. Andrew spent over 25 years in the corporate world before recently establishing his consultancy business, Climate Communication, which helps organisations navigate climate change, the biggest issue facing the planet in the next 50 years.

Over a varied career in the corporate world, Andrew started as a journalist in Sydney, regional Australia and Canberra before taking on senior roles in marketing, corporate affairs and management consulting in Australia and overseas. He played a key role in Sydney’s successful bid for and staging of the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Andrew also held roles with the Australian Tourist Commission and Visa Inc. Andrew lived in San Francisco for three years and was Visa’s global head of brand and sponsorship communications.

Andrew has been a lifelong supporter of the Australian Labor Party and worked in the Keating and Carr Governments as a media adviser. Andrew has been active in the Labor Party since the late 1980’s. Today, he is a member of LEAN ­ the Labor Environment Action Network, which is making a significant contribution to Labor’s progressive policies on climate change, renewable energy and regional transformation.

He holds a Master of Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is currently undertaking a Master of Environmental Management, also at UNSW. He did his high schooling at St Augustines College, Brookvale, and primary schooling at St Josephs, Narrabeen.

Andrew loves nature, technology, politics, social entrepreneurship, current affairs, active lifestyles and sports. He is a member of the Australian Conservation Foundation and the Australian Republican Movement. He is a cricket tragic and card carrying member of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, Sydney FC, Sydney Swans and New South Wales Waratahs.
